In Unit 1, we learned how to use and construct a design brief for our designs. We were also taught how to apply the design process to the innovations we made. For example, we would analyze the problem statement, design statement, constraints, and criteria, then brainstorm several possible solutions with our group members, which we later narrow down to one most effective solution.
Design Process / Design Brief / Decision Matrix
The six main steps of the design process are: define the problem, generate concepts, develop a situation, construct and test the prototype, evaluate the solution, and present the solution
The design brief lists the problem statement, design statement, client, target consumer, constraints, and criteria
A decision matrix compares design solutions regarding specific criteria
Engineering / Technology / Product Evolution
Engineering is when new inventions are made, or when inventions are innovated in order to serve a better purpose
Technology can be negative as it results in pollution, unemployment, and many more problems
Product evolution includes the idea of an invention being innovated several times and each time, it would be a better version than before
